Bruce Elfant at press conference

I am honored that Travis County citizens have elected me to serve our community as Constable for Precinct Five. The function of Texas constables, while not generally well known, is a critical component of our system of justice. Through the service of civil process and the execution of court orders and warrants, constables serve as the "due process" and "enforcement" arms of our courts. My office, which consists of a staff of 55 deputy constables and support staff, carries out these court functions as directed by state law, local rules and court orders.

I am proud of my record as a manager of a large county department responsible for the execution of state mandated responsibilities, but I believe that elected officials also have a responsibility to work closely with all agencies and organizations associated with the court system to find ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our court system. We initiated a number of collaborations that have resulted in an improved delivery of services for our citizens. We have also developed a state of the art computer system that saved Travis County tens of thousands of dollars and enables us to communicate with our customers in ways not replicated elsewhere.

This website tells my story and the story of all the hard working and committed employees of Constable Precinct Five who serve our community while on and off duty.
